In the words of former South African President Nelson Mandela, "Canon Collins Trust has worked tirelessly to develop southern Africans to be leaders in their fields by providing access to education. It is through this access to education that young people will realise their full potential to build better lives for all."
The Canon Collins Trust promotes social justice in Southern Africa by supporting a network of leaders and organizations who use knowledge and activism to build a more open and just society. We achieve this by funding higher education scholarships for those who are committed to driving social change and by supporting the work of organizations that protect the rights of vulnerable people in South Africa.
Over the past 42 years, we've proudly assisted over 4,000 scholars from various Southern African countries. Among them are conservationists, engineers, public health specialists, educators, lawyers, political and business leaders, and scientists, who are now at the forefront of change in their communities.
Through collaboration with civil society organizations, our work continues to bring positive change in the lives of the most disadvantaged individuals. Our partnership with the Legal Resources Centre, a leading public interest law firm in South Africa, enables us to champion groundbreaking impact litigation aimed at safeguarding the basic rights of vulnerable populations, such as access to housing, water, and healthcare services. Additionally, we support the work of Equal Education, a movement consisting of students, parents, educators, and community members working for quality and equality within the South African education system through advocacy and litigation.
Every year, our London Marathon team plays a crucial role in helping us support the next generation of scholars, activists, and change-makers committed to positive social development in Southern Africa. By joining this dynamic community, you have the power to amplify this impact even further.
Hear directly from our scholars as they share how the support has transformed their lives.
